itSMF International – Correspondence regarding the makeup of the International Executive Board (IEB) of itSMF International

Dear Chapter leader,

itSMF International - Correspondence regarding the makeup of the International Executive Board (IEB) of itSMF International - a message to Chapter leaders

A correspondence was recently sent to a number of Chapter leaders, the itSMF International board (both past and present) and a large number of other e-mail addresses within the IT Service Management community regarding itSMF International. As this was an open communication broadcast to a large public audience, the International Executive Board (IEB) was not able to respond directly.

This correspondence included allegations regarding the legitimacy of appointments to the IEB, and questioned the lack of communication and achievements made by the IEB. Needless to say, we take these allegations extremely seriously, as the IEB has been appointed by the itSMF International board to ensure that the organization conducts itself in a legal and correct manner. We are surprised at the allegations of lack of communication and results, given the regular updates and newsletters the IEB sends out. However, it is clear that these have not been read by the individuals making the accusations.

We will shortly be posting details on the website to clarify how appointments have been and are made to the International Executive Board. We will send this link out to all Chapter leaders shortly.

Following this we would like to give the full itSMF International Board, which is made up of the chairs of all Chapters in good standing, the opportunity - if they wish - to vote to hold an Emergency General Meeting (EGM) to consider the actions of the IEB. The IEB has followed the procedures laid out in our governing documentation (and the information on the website will detail these actions) and always acts with the advice of our lawyer when conducting all election business. However we as itSMF are ultimately responsible to the Full Board and therefore it is right and proper to ask if that full board wishes to have an EGM on this matter.

If you have any specific questions please do not hesitate to contact myself (david.cannon@itsmfi.org) and our Company Secretary, Ben Clacy (ben.clacy@itsmfi.org) and we will be very happy to discuss.

We will be back in touch shortly with the link to the full information on the website and will details of how to vote on the potential EGM.

Best regards,
David Cannon,
Chair, itSMF International
