itSMF Norway 2009 Conference Report - ITIL –”The name of the game”

ITIL -"The name of the game" - another successful conference has been brought to an end.
This year's itSMF conference 2009, the seventh in the row, is finished. Close to 500 participants had an enjoyable time with many interesting lectures and workshops. The atmosphere was ecstatic and the participants were very enthusiastic.

Call for volunteers for New itSMF International Chapter Development Committee

The itSMF International Board is seeking volunteers from the itSMF community to serve on the now-forming "itSMF International Chapter Development and Support Committee" (iDaSC), initially to be chaired by Ken Wendle, Director of Chapter Services.

This committee will be responsible for, among other things, the following tasks:

50th Chapter Celebration – Artwork Competition winner

 

Congratulations go to John Wallhoff who is the Treasurer of the itSMF Sweden Chapter, for submitting the winning entry to our competition to find a logo which was symbolic of a real milestone in the development of our movement. That of the 50th Chapter to be approved by itSMF International. His well earned iPod Touch, will be on its way in a few days!

The 50th Chapter Celebration logo may be used on each Chapter's website and any printed literature produced specifically for events during the 50th Chapter celebrations during 2009.

2009 Chapter Leadership Conference (CLC) Location Announcement

itSMF International is pleased to announce the location as Barcelona Spain, and the dates for the 2009 CLC as 28 - 29 October.

Based on input from last year's CLC, this year's premier Chapter Leadership event will be held over TWO FULL days in conjunction with a major Chapter event!

itSMF International LinkedIn Group gets 1,000th member

The itSMF International LinkedIn group has just passed the milestone of it's 1,000th member -Sue Conger from Dallas, USA.

Sue Conger has a Ph.D. in computer information systems from the Stern School of Management at New York University. She is the author of The New Software Engineering and Planning and Designing Effective Web Sites, and is publishing Process Mapping & Management while beginning IT Service Management. She is currently on the faculty of University of Dallas where she manages both Information Technology and IT Service Management (ITSM) programs.

itSMF UK announces new title for Service Level Management specialists

itSMF UK has announced the publication of 'Service Level Management - a Practitioner's Guide'. This is the first of a new series of guides that draw on the expertise of the chapter's network of Special Interest Groups. Offering a practical, experience-based approach to the subject matter, the guide discusses (among other things) the best way to design an SLM roadmap and implementation project plan, compile a service catalogue, and put together service level agreements, with templates and supporting material provided on an accompanying CD. itSMF UK member Steve Morgan, who chaired the working party that authored the book, said the group were delighted to be able to share their SLM knowledge with other service management professionals.

2008 AGM and Inaugeral itSMFI Chapter Leadership Conference a great success

The itSMF International Board met its Chapters on Friday the 14th November 2008, at the Hilton, Warwick in the UK. Of the 53 Chapters currently chartered, 43 Chapters attended both the Annual General Meeting and Annual Chapter Meeting held over 2 1/2 days. Both meetings were preceded by the very first Chapter Leadership Conference and the UK Chapter's Annual conference.

 

The attendees followed a programme of workshops, presentations and fun, fraternity and fellowship all aimed at getting a greater level of understanding amongst the Chapters and a deeper understanding of how the organisation can support, develop and promote best practice on IT Service Management worldwide.

The British Computer Society (BCS) and the IT Service Management Forum International (itSMFI) sign agreement

BCS is very happy to work with ITSMF International and contribute to the future development of IT Service Management. The international Forum is a key partner for BCS with regard to the future development of qualifications and professionalism in IT. BCS is looking forward to a great cooperation with the ITSMF International and the ITSMF chapters.

The itSMFI is delighted to have this agreement in place to work together with the BCS on matters of mutual interest to our members and we look forward to this agreement adding value to both our organisations in the future.

itSMFI and ISACA Enter Agreement to Support Member Services, Frameworks

To recognize their mutual interests and work more closely together on key initiatives, the ISACA and the IT Service Management Forum International (itSMFI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MoU enables both organizations to enhance the services they provide to members, promote the complementary frameworks that are the focus of the respective organizations, and focus their efforts on practical delivery support to the global IT community for the integrated use of ITIL and the COBIT framework.
