Is Service Transition the most important part of IT?

Moving IT Services into a live environment has long been fraught with danger and whilst the days of "throwing a new service over the fence" may be long gone (in most companies) there is still a prevailing danger point at Service Transition. Whilst there is case for saying any and all stages in the lifecycle of an IT Service are the most key - there can be a stronger case for that point where that Service begins to work in anger as it moves into a live environment.
