Following the AGM and Chapter meeting in Washington in 2011 and a handover meeting last week the International Executive Board (IEB) has now appointed Marianna Billington as their chair for the coming year.

Marianna spent the last year as the IEB's vice-chair and has also held the publications portfolio for the last 2 years.

itSMF International is pleased to announce the winner of the 2011 Whitepaper Competition. This year's event was won by Peter Brooks from itSMF South Africa with a paper entitled "Business Analysis and Service Management - How BABOK complements ITIL"

The entries this year were of a very high standard and I would like to thank our judging panel for the efforts made to select the winning paper.

Peter has received an iPad2 for his efforts. The paper is available here for download.

1. Introduction

This communiqué to Chapter Leaders is designed to provide you with notification that the Board of itSMF has confirmed that its Annual General Meeting is to take place on 25th September at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Centre in National Harbour, Maryland, USA.

Further details will be issued, in line with the statutory notification process together with voting slips and resolutions, shortly.

2. Election

ITIL 2011 Edition, the updated version of the ITIL Lifecycle Suite, will be available on 29th July.

The ITIL V3 Managing across the Lifecycle (MALC) qualification is currently undergoing a review as part of APM Group's continual service improvement process. As part of the review project and stakeholder consultation a number of surveys have been created.

The surveys are targeting MALC students, their sponsors, ATOs and trainers, and are available for completion in English, German and Japanese. APM Group would like to gather stakeholder feedback on MALC qualification, particularly on MALC syllabus, course and exam, and welcome any suggestions for improvement.

itSMF International - Correspondence regarding the makeup of the International Executive Board (IEB) of itSMF International - a message to Chapter leaders

A correspondence was recently sent to a number of Chapter leaders, the itSMF International board (both past and present) and a large number of other e-mail addresses within the IT Service Management community regarding itSMF International. As this was an open communication broadcast to a large public audience, the International Executive Board (IEB) was not able to respond directly.

Following a handover meeting between the outgoing board members from 2010 and the new board for 2011 new Portfolios have been set for the coming year and are outlined below.

The APM Group, Official Accreditor of the ITIL Qualification Scheme, has announced that Cert-IT, based in Germany, been accredited as ITIL Examination Institute. The APM Group's role as OGC's Official Accreditor for the ITIL Qualification scheme, allows it to license Examination Institutes to administer ITIL qualification and accreditation activities.

A number of complementary qualifications are now available and the number is increasing. All of these are given credits in the ITIL® V3 qualification scheme.
