Topic: Service Catalogues and How to Apply Them

The ITIL term Service Catalogue, is commonly misunderstood. However, its
importance is now generally recognised, and with ITIL v3, it has moved from
being "nice to have" to a business critical asset. Indeed ITIL v3 advocates that
a good starting point for any ITIL implementation should be creation of the Service Catalogue. ITIL V3 goes on to recognise the difficulties of creating them and also reflects the reality that it is often better, and easier, to have more than one Service Catalogue. In practice there is potential for three types of service catalogue:

  • A user-facing service catalogue, which characterises and lists the IT services being provided by IT and the users of those services.
  • A technical service catalogue for IT use, which makes the link between technical infrastructure components and the services they support.
  • A user request catalogue, for users to reference when new or replacement hardware, software or permissions and access changes are needed.

This seminar will guide you through the different types of catalogue to consider, typical content, how to go about creating them, how to maintain their accuracy and some pitfalls to avoid.

The seminar is aimed
at anybody involved in Service Management wanting to better understand Service Catalogue management and provides a forum for to enable you to meet other practitioners willing to share their experiences and expertise.
