itSMF Norway 2008 Conference Report

Everybody Needs Somebody – Successful [Conference] Theme in Norway

The excellent choice of the conference theme and the reputation of one of the best conferences in Europe resulted in more than 400 delegates participating in the 6th annual itSMF conference in Norway, March 4-5, 2008. The conference was focusing on the importance of cooperation, sharing the knowledge, and doing successful projects in teams. “Everybody needs somebody” referring to the fact that it is very difficult to be successful all alone – and of course, this year’s theme also was inspired of the Blues Brothers.

The key note speakers of this year’s conference were both local speakers from Norway and international well-known people within ITSM industry. Two of them are well-known to all of us, and so talented in their presentations. Firstly, Sharon Taylor – the Norwegian team have chosen to introduce her as “The Boss”.

Simultaneously it was made very clear that all of the members of itSMF sphere are “bosses” in the organisation. In other words, Sharon and the rest of the itSMF International Board are there to entirely to serve the national chapters and their boards - and further their members. However, the Norwegian conference committee did find it very amusing to introduce her as the Boss by bringing her in to the room on an enormous Boss Hoss motorbike, with 350 horse powers and 5700 ccm! The analogy, of course, is that itSMF is a powerful organisation, able to create positive attention if steered and handled in a right way!
