itSMF International hosts first International Open Virtual Chapter meeting to positive Chapter feedback

June 16th, 2008 marked a new direction for the International Executive Board of itSMFI. Committed to open, transparent Board operations, the IEB hosted the inaugural virtual meeting, open to all itSMF Chapters. The 2008/2009 IEB is working hard to ensure that we provide formal mechanisms that encourage Chapters to interact with their executive board of directors on a regular basis, rather than only at the AGM held every fall.

Twenty itSMF Chapters participated in this 2 hour event which provided presentations from each IEB director on their service portfolios followed by a 30 minute open question and answer forum where
chapters could engage any Director with questions. During the meeting and moments after, emails flooded in congratulating the IEB on a successful meeting and appreciation for the effort to open a frequent and continuing dialogue with Chapters.

The virtual meeting forum raises the number of meetings per year with all Chapters to six, five more than in past years. The fast pace of our industry, the rapid growth of new and emerging Chapters, means we must engage with Chapters more often and provide the support to chapters that has been delegated to this executive board.

The following Chapters registered for today’s meeting:

  • Argentina
  • Belgium
  • Brasil
  • Egypt
  • Greece
  • Gulf
    States
  • Hong Kong
  • Hungary
  • Ireland
  • Israel
  • Netherlands
  • New Zealand
  • Norway
  • Macedonia
  • Poland
  • Singapore
  • Slovenia
  • Switzerland

The IEB would like to thank every chapter
who was able to participate today, and encourage all Chapters to join in these
meetings whenever they can.
