ITIL may now have evolved into version 3
but some things never change: people are fundamental to everything, be
they the IT staff who design the systems, the technical staff who
implement and support them or the customers who use them. Proven
processes have to be in place for IT systems to be successful and
performance is of paramount importance to keep customers (and our
bosses!) happy.

ISO/IEC 20000 is the International
Service Management Standard that enables IT organisations to ensure and
prove that the services they provide are aligned to globally accepted
best practices. The Standard can apply equally to in-house, outsourced
or multi-sourced environments. The benefit of aligning to the ISO/IEC
20000 Standard is that processes are place which will allow IT and the
business to work together in a controlled and mutually acceptable way.
