Real progress is being made in the development and implementation of ITIL V3 qualifications

ITIL® V3 Foundation Syllabus Review Process

Following the launch of the ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management in June 2007 and the Foundation Bridge Certificate launch in August 2007, it was always intended to review both syllabuses as part of APM Group's continual service improvement process.

Some of the initial concerns raised by students, Accredited Training Organisations (ATOs) and Examination Institutes (EIs) were addressed through an interim syllabus version, which was released on February 1st 2008; however, the full syllabus review process for the courses and certificates is now complete.

itSMF Serbia holds its launch Conference

On December 10th 2008, future leaders of IT Service Management of Serbia got together at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Belgrade to launch the itSMF Serbia chapter - the 51st of 53 itSMF chapters worldwide.

 

The event attracted more than 130 guests representing local and international IT and Telecommunications companies, Universities and Government representatives interested in hearing about the latest topics in IT Service Management, ITIL and its best practices.

itSMF Greece holds its launch Conference

On November 20th 2008, the Greek chapter ITSMF Hellas organized the 1st IT Service Management Conference in Greece.

The conference included a wide range of hot topics on IT Service Management, IT Governance, IT Value Generation and IT-Business Alignment in a total of 13 presentations and a discussion panel.

Over 160 attendees followed the proceedings with extreme interest and a rather active participation giving a surprising vibe to the conference.

Colin Rudd as the keynote speaker with a rather interesting and enjoyable presentation attracted most of the attention and the appreciation of all.

itSMF UK Chair steps down

itSMF UK Chairman, Maggie Kneller, has stepped down as Chairman, with immediate effect. Maggie, who is a well known figure in the IT Service Management world, has played a significant role in shaping itSMF Ltd since being elected to the then Management Board in 1996. After serving on various Executive sub-committees, she was elected to the Board of Directors as Vice Chair in 2005 and Chairman in 2007.

itSMF UK announces new title for Service Level Management specialists

itSMF UK has announced the publication of 'Service Level Management - a Practitioner's Guide'. This is the first of a new series of guides that draw on the expertise of the chapter's network of Special Interest Groups. Offering a practical, experience-based approach to the subject matter, the guide discusses (among other things) the best way to design an SLM roadmap and implementation project plan, compile a service catalogue, and put together service level agreements, with templates and supporting material provided on an accompanying CD. itSMF UK member Steve Morgan, who chaired the working party that authored the book, said the group were delighted to be able to share their SLM knowledge with other service management professionals.

2008 AGM and Inaugeral itSMFI Chapter Leadership Conference a great success

The itSMF International Board met its Chapters on Friday the 14th November 2008, at the Hilton, Warwick in the UK. Of the 53 Chapters currently chartered, 43 Chapters attended both the Annual General Meeting and Annual Chapter Meeting held over 2 1/2 days. Both meetings were preceded by the very first Chapter Leadership Conference and the UK Chapter's Annual conference.

 

The attendees followed a programme of workshops, presentations and fun, fraternity and fellowship all aimed at getting a greater level of understanding amongst the Chapters and a deeper understanding of how the organisation can support, develop and promote best practice on IT Service Management worldwide.
