ITIL V3 Update: Call for Participants

ITIL underwent a major refresh in 2005 and V3 was launched in June 2007. OGC has established a cyclical programme to update its core ITIL guidance which takes into account the latest developments in best practice in IT service management. Between the refresh projects, the ITIL guidance is regularly reviewed for fitness for purpose and is updated in controlled releases.

The Office of Government Commerce (OGC) and The Stationery Office (TSO), the official publisher for the GC, are seeking participants for the update of the five core publications (Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, Continual Service Improvement) and the Introduction to the ITIL Service Lifecycle.

itSMF International Publications Survey

As you may be aware itSMF International is planning to produce its own series of Service Management publications.

To help us determine the direction we should be going, we need feedback from the global membership of itSMF.  We have, therefore, prepared a survey which we would urge all members of itSMF chapters to complete and take this opportunity to help determine the future of itSMF publishing.

Our goal is to publish the first items in this collection early in 2010.

itSMF UK and TSO announce a new edition of the Foundation Handbook

itSMF UK and TSO have announced a new edition of the hugely popular pocket guide the ITIL V3 Foundation Handbook, co-branded with itSMFI.

Fully revised to reflect the new ITIL Foundation syllabus (May 2009), this is the only pocket guide that offers fully up-to-date ITIL V3 guidance for students and managers alike. It's a quick reference tool for those interested in ITIL V3 and it offers basic information around each process and function in the lifecycle, with cross-referencing to the core books for more in-depth reading.

itSMF International is very pleased to announce the publication of the first ITIL V3 core book in French

"Exploitation des Services" (Service Operation) is available in two versions - book (ISBN 9780113311477) or PDF (ISBN 9780113311484), and joins the recently announced French version of the "Introduction to the ITIL Service Lifecycle" (book 9780113311453 and PDF 9780113311491). These translations were the result of many hours of dedication by members of itSMF France, supported by reviewers from the other French-speaking chapters.

itSMF UK announces new title for Service Level Management specialists

itSMF UK has announced the publication of 'Service Level Management - a Practitioner's Guide'. This is the first of a new series of guides that draw on the expertise of the chapter's network of Special Interest Groups. Offering a practical, experience-based approach to the subject matter, the guide discusses (among other things) the best way to design an SLM roadmap and implementation project plan, compile a service catalogue, and put together service level agreements, with templates and supporting material provided on an accompanying CD. itSMF UK member Steve Morgan, who chaired the working party that authored the book, said the group were delighted to be able to share their SLM knowledge with other service management professionals.

ITIL V3 Foundation Handbook

Though itSMFI’s umbrella ‘co-branded publications agreement’ with TSO, the Official Publisher of ITIL, itSMF UK and TSO have announced a new co-branded pocket guide, the ITIL V3 Foundation Handbook. The Handbook performs a dual role. It's a quick management-level reference tool for those interested in ITIL V3. Also - uniquely for a pocket guide - it covers the full content of the ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate syllabus and provides an ideal revision aid.
