About Me:
Trevor has been in the IT industry for over twenty years, the majority of which has been in designing, managing and presenting training. As an employee of Systemhouse Canada he has worked on projects for IBM, Microsoft and Lotus Corp. Originally trained in New Zealand as a teacher, then as a civil design engineer, Trevor discovered personal computing in Canada, and took a diploma in Personal Computer Sciences from Mohawk College in Ontario, Canada. He taught part-time classes for the college before moving to a full-time training position for Computerland Canada. He progressed his career in training, presentation and development as Computerland successively became a division of SHL Systemhouse, then part of MCI, and finally Worldcom. Trevor reached the most senior training position of Executive Instructor for Western Canada, designing custom training solutions for major clients, and writing manuals and presenting training across a wide range of disciplines. As part of his work with Systemhouse and MCI, Trevor became a specialist in developing and presenting soft skills training based on materials from Xerox Corp. He applied these skills internally to Systemhouse and also to their clients. He returned to New Zealand in 1997, and became a senior trainer for Computerland, then in 1999 transferred to the Service Dept as an Engineer. During that time he has increased the depth of his knowledge with A+ and Network+ Trainer Certifications. He extended his skill set with certifications in ITIL Foundation level V2 and V3 along with V2 Practitioner status in Release and Control plus Support and Restore clusters; and has written courses for ITIL literacy. He is one of a very limited number of Pink Elephant certified trainers in New Zealand, providing OGC certified training via Auldhouse – over the 3½ years of training V2 and V3 Foundation courses he has trained over 700 ICT professionals. Currently as part of the Gen-i Capability Management Team, Trevor’s training assignments include training of ITIL, communications, customer satisfaction, self-motivation, health and stress relief in support of Gen-i’s staff, and also for Gen-i’s corporate clients including Meridian Energy, Works Infrastructure, Canterbury and Hawkes Bay DHB’s, PanPac and ABN Amro Craig. He has also contributed to several BizGo and RADAR seminar series, conducting sessions on business topics and ITIL to a national audience.
